Amazing Moringa benefits

Moringa in Thailand

The amazing Moringa benefits of eating oleifera leaves, seeds, and pods in Thailand.

Moringa grows wild in Thailand where it is known as Marum (มะรุม). The name Moringa means “twisted pod” in Tamil (murungai, முருங்கை).
In other parts of the world, they call it the Drumstick Tree, or another nickname after the benefits it produces: Ben Oil or Benzoil Tree after its oil, or Horseradish Tree as the roots resemble the taste.
These trees can also be found throughout South Asia, Southeast Asia, parts of Africa, the Caribbean, and even in warm parts of the United States.

You can find Moringa growing freely in Thailand, but be conscientious when you seek them out, so as not to trespass when you want to pick the leaves.

Moringa has been used for thousands of years as a health plant, as it is a true super food that grows freely in Thailand. The leaves have been proven to have many benefits such as:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin B complex
  • Vitamin C
  • High fiber
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Manganese
  • Potassium
  • Protein

You can use the Moringa Seeds

The seeds can be used to make oil for cooking. In Thailand, seeds can be eaten but they don’t taste very good, and are not very nutritious. They might be better left to plant new trees.
